Contact and other details: Southwark RFC is one of only a handful of inner London Clubs. The senior section was founded in 2008 and has experienced considerable success in its short history, rising from Merit league to Kent 1 (level 9) in 4 seasons.

We are now seeking a Head Coach who can provide the knowledge, enthusiasm and capability to mould our talented players into a team capable of progressing into the London leagues.

Our location just outside of Elephant and Castle provides the club with a steady stream of talented players but just like London in general the population is very transient. The successful applicant will need to integrate players quickly and create a game plan that compensates for higher player turnover than a standard Club.

The role:

Deliver engaging and beneficial training sessions twice a week throughout the season (Tuesday & Thursday evenings).
Create a coherent and progressive seasonal training plan for the club.
Define a realistic and achievable game plan for the players to work towards.
Give advice and direction to individual players to help improve their overall game.
Encourage senior players to help with coaching sessions.
Provide impartial and insightful advice with team selection.
Attend all 1st XV matches, providing team warm-up and strategic decision making during the match.
Build and develop a coaching team to aid players at all levels and abilities who fall outside of the 1st XV.
Improve seasonal training attendances, make it fun, challenging and beneficial to all.

The Person:

Qualified to Level 2 or higher.
Experience of coaching and player management at level 9 and above.
Success driven, able to provide evidence of success with other teams.
Reliable and fully committed.
Enthusiastic and personable.
Able to write a seasonal coaching plan that works towards a pre-defined game plan.

We are looking for a level 2 coach but we would accept offers from Level 1 coach who wants to achieve Level 2. The club offers material help with achieving the next coaching level.

The club is situated at 75 Manchester Road, Island Gardens E14 3DN, on the Isle of Dogs in East London.
Training and home games take place on Millwall Park.

The successful candidate will have the following duties:

Plan and lead coaching session on Wednesday evening
Game day responsibilities
Assist in recruitment of players
Lead team selection
Ensure all players receive clear, honest feedback and appraisal of their performances
Establish and implement a clear playing philosophy and game plan

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key skills and experience:

Be an experienced and qualified rugby coach – Minimum Level 2 (Level 1 with exceptions). The Club will support coaches if they wish to advance to Level 3 (2)

The 1st XV competes in Essex 1 (Level 9) and came 5th last season in the league. The club has aspirations to progress. The 2nd XV and 3rd XV play in the Merit leagues. The club also has a Ladies team and a vibrant and growing mini and youth section.

• Plan and lead coaching for 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams on Monday and Wednesday evenings
• Game day responsibilities on a Saturday
• Assist in recruitment of players
• Lead team selection

• Manage team managers and assistant coaches

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key skills and experience:

• Have a strong team work ethic

Our 1st XV contests in Western Counties North (Level 7) and the 2nd XV play in North 1 Merit table, the club also regularly put out a 3rd XV and Veterans side who enjoy the more social side of rugby.

We have a young, motivated and ambitious 1st XV and are looking for a coach, ideally a player in the tight five with a coaching badge, with a similar mind-set to help the club achieve its potential. We have finished consistently in the top 5 for the last 3 seasons in this league but looking to push on to the next level and move the club forwards.

Chosen Hill is a great family club to be involved with and has managed to maintain the social aspect of playing rugby alongside the more serious playing side of things.
